What is mirror polishing
Mirror polishing is classified into mechanical mirror polishing and chemical solution mirror polishing.
Mechanical mirror polishing is a polishing process (rough grinding, fine grinding) on metal material to achieve a smooth, shiny mirror-like surface.
The chemical solution mirror polishing is performed by using a chemical solution to remove the surface oxide scale to achieve a brightening effect.
Mirror polishing depends on the level of finish. It is directly understood as smooth like a mirror, below Ra0.2, etc. It is usually used in polishing stainless. Sometimes in polishing cast aluminum.
Why do we make mirror polishing for investment casting?
Polishing metal to a mirror finish is a relatively simple process. It involves sanding down any imperfections and then buffing them. You can do this process on a car or motorcycle to give it a professional and maintained look, or on garden ornaments or sculptures.
Although the process does require repetition, once you have completed it, you will be able to see the benefit immediately after completion. And you will have customized a piece of metal to look good.
Mechanical mirror polishing
Mechanical mirror polishing is a smooth, shiny mirror-like surface. It has been subjected to a grinding process (rough grinding, fine grinding) and a polishing process on metal material.
First, the grinding process
The purpose of polishing is to obtain a smooth and smooth surface. At this time, there is a very fine and uniform wear scar on the grinding surface. The grinding process is divided into rough grinding and fine grinding.
1. Rough grinding: Rough grinding is the modification of rough surfaces and irregular shapes.
2. Fine grinding: After rough grinding, the metal surface still has deep wear marks, which need to be eliminated in fine grinding. This is prepared for polishing.
Second, the surface polishing process
The polishing process is to obtain a glossy mirror-like surface finish. Most of the parts that are repeatedly polished with a polishing wheel are extremely uneven on the surface of the part. It is commonly used for the modification of the surface of the plating.
Polishing is the final step on the surface of a coating or the surface of a part. The purpose is to eliminate the fine wear marks remaining on the surface after the polishing process. The ideal polished surface should be smooth, bright, non-marking, embossed, pit-free, and free of metal. A surface like a mirrored state.
Three-step mirror polishing
Here we recommended a method of polishing steel to mirror finish.
The three-step mirror polishing is a polishing power tool. It is used in combination with three kinds of polishing materials. Such as composite louver disc, synthetic grinding disc, and wool strip polishing disc for mirror polishing. The polishing process is composite louver disc, synthetic grinding disc, and the surface polishing process is wool.
The first step: compound louver
The structure of the composite louver disc combines a surface-finishing material with a coated abrasive to remove rough surfaces and irregular shapes for rough grinding and preliminary fine grinding.
Step 2: Synthetic grinding disc
The highly concentrated abrasive is distributed over a sturdy non-woven base material to remove the glare or burrs on the stainless steel surface for fine grinding and preparation for polishing.
The third step: wool polishing disc
The wool strip has good flexibility and is easy to accelerate airflow cooling. It is suitable for polishing wax or pastes to achieve the final procedure of the bright mirror-like metal surface processing.
Chemical mirror polishing
Stainless steel chemical mirror polishing method
First: Wash all the stains and attachments on the surface of the stainless steel. Generally, professional degreasers are used.
Second: Use a pickling agent to pickle the oxidized fur on the surface of stainless steel. Such as the black carbonaceous matter left after high-temperature treatment. Workpieces are processed by high-pressure stamping and bending machines. It also needs to be pickled with pickling liquid.
Third: The pickling is completed and the pickling agent liquid on the surface of the workpiece is washed with clean water.
Fourth: Use a special stainless steel mirror polishing agent to soak for more than 30 minutes. The mirror effect came out. The workpiece can be taken out.
Fifth: Wash the workpiece with clean water. Then wash the workpiece with pure water.
Sixth: the final drying process. Packaging products.
